I’m sure you can think of a problem that continues to pop up in your life over and over again. The same recurring problems are typically the hardest to solve because they require a great amount of introspective reflection in order to find the root cause. Whenever I deal with such a problem, there is one simple quote that comes to mind.

“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” — Albert Einstein

All humans have a limited capacity for conscious decision making. Most of our bodily processes and daily decisions are governed by the subconscious mind. While these subconscious decision-making processes allow us to conserve energy and make it easier for us to navigate the world, they also create psychological blind spots. These psychological blind spots are areas within our lives where our decision-making capacity is involuntarily switched to autopilot. This is the primary reason why certain problems continue to resurface in our lives, over and over again. We don’t dig deep enough to understand the root cause of these problems. Instead, we construct temporary bandaid solutions and convince ourselves that we’ve addressed the issue at hand. A problem that continues to resurface in your life is really just a hidden message staring you right in the face.

Einstein’s advice is simple and profound. In order to decipher this message, you must remove the rose coloured glasses, shift your perspective, and dive deeper. Pondering the truth behind these types of problems requires a great deal of self-awareness and self-reflection and invariably requires you to elevate your level of thinking. If we allow our deeply embedded subconscious behavior patterns to govern our lives, the same problems will continue to manifest in a new shape or form.
